Lily had a good weekend.

On Friday she had lots of trips in the car which she doesnt seem to mind. She likes to look around and often she likes to sleep in her car seat. She had her first rip to the RTA to register the car, went to the doctors with mum, did some shopping at marketplace where we ran into Ann from CRS and had some good sleeps at home.

On Saturday she went out to Adelong again as granny Lynn was worried Lily was going to forget who she was as Dad has to go to training in Sydney this week. So mum and dad went to the movies and had a good sleep while Lily kept the Taylor grandparents awake during the night.

On Sunday mum and dad picked her up from Adelong and we went grocery shopping. Lily was in the pouch and spent the whole time looking at lights on the ceiling. She is fascinated by them. We also saw a baby from parents who were in our ante natal classes. She was out getting photos for her grandparents brag books. Lily had a bit of an unsettled night having a bit of a whinge while she dozed off but come 6am she was pining for mum and dads room and once in there she went straight to sleep. She is a little con artist with strong little fingers. Dad is certainly wrapped around them.

Lily has been learning the art of sleeping to a routine. It was all going really well until last night when she thought she'd go back to old times and frustrate mum and dad with no sleep.

Yesterday she went to the community nurse for weighing and a little check up (because she is only little).

She weighed in at 3980g and was 52cm long.

After the check up we did a bit of shopping and then went to Sporties for lunch. Lily just looked at the lights and amused herself.

Lily has had a pretty good weekend. She has started to get a little more regular in her sleeping and is lowing down with her drinking of her bottles.

On Saturday she went and cheered on the Rivcoll Red Chicks, apparently she got 1 point in their best and fairest picks so she has donewell and looks like being a netball whiz when she grows up. On Sunday she went on her first big drive out to Adelong so she could spend the night with grandma and grandad Taylor. She slept pretty much the whole way out to Adelong and all reports were that she had a good nights of sleeping and feeding. No real worries.

The above photo was taken at Red Rooster in Wagga while mum was in buying dinner for mum and dad. Lily like to look at bright lights.

What a big day for the little lady.

After a fairly good night of sleeping and feeding Lily had a huuuuuge sleep during the day much to the delight of her mum who was worried about her little girl not being able to sleep. The 12 hour awake period the day before was not helping the situation.

In the afternoon Lily visited the CRS Australia office and was fussed over by Linda, Robyn, Anna bel and Laurie. From there mum went to the doctors so Lily and dad went for a walk aroud Glenfield shoping centre to fill in the time. After the doctors we went to Centrelink so Mum could show off her bundle of joy to her co workers. They all seemed impressed by the beautiful little girl and commented on the fine job done by mum and dad to produce such a beautiful little girl.

After her big day of visiting people Lily had a good night of sleeping and feeding. Lets hope that all continues.

Yesterday Liliy went to her first class. It was asettling class so mum and baby could learn some tips on being settled during the day and night. Funnily enough Lily slept through pretty much the whole class. Typical.

Last night was a shocker though. she didnt sleep much at all. maybe she should have been awake during the class. As a consequence mum and dad and Granny Lynn didnt sleep much either. At least i can sleep at work. dont tell the boss.

Tonight Lily and Dad will be watching the tour stage 15 up the alps. cant wait.

a cake made of nappies given to Lily by her Great GrandNan Rita. It also has some booties, a dummy, safety pins and singlets on it.

well it has been a while since the last entry. sorry about that folks

Lily has been doing her best to deprive mum and dad of sleep. if there was a competition for doing it she would be world champion.

Lily thinks that day is night and night is day. This makes it really hard for mum and dad who actually know which is which and are suffering her misunderstanding of the two.

We have had some more visitors since the last blog. Isaac and Chantel came and had a hold of the little lady.

Lets hope the next few nights she gets the idea of sleeping times.

Lily had a very unsettled day today and tried mums nerves out. There was plenty of crying (from lily) and screaming (also from Lily).

Lily got to meet her cousins Tamara and Jake from up sydney way who were here with their dad Mick and partner Debbie.

For dinner we went to Hogs Breath with Dee, Dan, Geoff, Viv and Steve and miraculously Lily and James both slept through the entire meal. Lily must have been exhausted from all the crying and screaming during the day.

She is a little cutie.

giving mum a kiss
time for a sleep

Today Lily had a big day.

She slept pretty well during the day between feeds and had a visit from plenty of people.

Shar, Cassie, Bianca, Cameron, Maureen and Great Granny Margaret came for a hold twice today. Understandable as they had travelled from Ingleburn to see Lilly.

Carly Hood came to visit on the way home from work and had a hold and a chat with mum and dad.

Lets hope tonight she sleeps like she did last night and gives mum and dad a bit of a sleep too.

Lily and mum got to come home on the 6/7/2006.

Mum was stressing about expressing and coping with burping the littleone when she was by herself so, in consultation with the peadeatrician we decided that we will have to go with feeding Lily formula as Becs milk is taking way too long to arrive. The paediatrician said it is important that mum be healthy and unstressed too and the stress caused by the feeding, expressing and burping whilst alone was not worth it.

Dad drove his two girls home and met Granny Taylor there as he had to go to work. Lynn helped becduring the day showing her some do's and dont's of looking after a little girl.

Dad got home at 5pm and Lily was fast asleep. He wasnt allowed to hold her until she stirred around 7pm. We then bathed her, changed the nappy and cleaned up after an impromptu poo whilst changing the nappy. She copped a feed and then took a while to settle and burp.

a fun night was had by all with only 3 feeds. Not too bad.

Dressed and ready to go home to Maple Rd

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

Mike got to spend his first full day at the hospital today (if you dont count the day of labour) and got to witness Lily have some of her screaming episodes.

we gave her a bath and she had plenty of feeds. Mike got to carry Lily aroud in a pouch for a couple of hours while Bec had a snooze and Lily had a snooze too.

Uncle Geoff and Aunty Viv had a visit as well as Shoody who had come from work to visit the little lady.

At 5pm Mike went to Romanos to have some celebratory drinks with the CRS crew for the birth of Lily and farwell drinks for Mike leaving CRS.

Mike will bring the ladies home tomorrow morning and then all the fun begins.

Lily has been a bad girl today.

She isnt feeding for long enough. She likes to just latch on and fall asleep. This isnt helping Bec either as she isnt producing enough milk because of it. Plenty of crying is the order because she isnt feeding so she is still hungry.

Hymee and Tanya visited today as well as granny taylor and Sam and Amanda.

Lets hope tonight is a better one.

Today Bec had plenty of visitors. Jeff and Jane Granger came and Jeff tried to take Lily home with him. Uncle geoff and Aunty Viv are quickly becoming the visitors of the month and both seem to enjoy having a hold and a cuddle.

Grandma and Grandad Davis had one last visit before they headed back to The oaks for a week or so. Pete,Stacey and Olivia Hunt had a visit along with Tania and Craig Smith. Matt and Mich came and had a hold before their ante natal classes which started at 7pm

After people had left the nurses helped mum (and dad) with a bath and then they watched Bec give Lily a feed and they were impressed with the ease bec has doing it. Apparently the mum across the hall is struggling big time to get her baby boy to breast feed.

Mike sent a fair few emails today to people lettting them know of the birth. He must be a real proud dad.

not liking a bath at all
snuggled up for a cuddle
sucking on her knuckle telling mum it is time for a feed not a photo

Lily about 5 mins old

Please welcome into the world Lily (Jane) Davis a beautiful little girl born on July 1 2006 at 8.55pm at Calvary hospital.

She was 50cm long and 7lb 13oz.

mum and baby are doing great.

Bec is in room 9 of the maternity ward and her phone number is 69232389 for those who wish to ring her.

Photos to come tomorrow.

Here is the story of the last couple of days.

Friday night at 10.46pm Bec started to get some contractions that were about 20 mins apart. Becs water broke at 12.41am on July 1. I know what you are all thinking. She waited for the new financial year to start her journey into the world. well if she did she is one smart cookie and will surely be great manager material in the future. The amazing thing about Becs water breaking was the classic catch bec did of the towel and water as she ran to the toilet. not one drop spilt. very impressive. If Bec might say so herself.

Contractions continued to happen and they started to become a little more regular and the midwife at Calvary hospital told us to come into the hospital. we arrived there at 2.05am on July 1. The contractions continued to increase in intensity and at 5.30 - 6.20am Bec had a hot shower to try and ease the pain.

At 7am there was no baby but a change of midwives occured. Pauline was replaced by Peta.

at 7.45am Mike made the ultimate sacrifice and cancelled his round of golf. Lily had better remeber that in the future.

By 9.03am Bec was starting to get sick of the pain and starting sucking on the gas to aid her through the contractions. The contractions started to get more and more intense as the day went on. Mike helped by supporting her weight during the contractions and acting as a squeezing ball as well.

Becs mum Lynn came and got queasy several times and was given plenty of jobs to do by the mid wife to get her out of the room and into fresh air. Paul, Sue, Geoff and Viv Davis arrived at around 6pm and were great support. The Davii and Lynn waited just outside the labour ward for up to 2 hours waiting for a baby to emerge.

At 7pm Bec was fully dilated and was ready to begin pushing. (dont tell Dr Angus but Bec confessed to pushing before she was fully dilated) Bec was pushing during her contractions for a full 1 hour and then Dr Angus arrived, assessed the situation and decided that Bec was going to need a spinal injection to allow him to aid the birth with forceps. The anethetist arrived at 8.30pm and was dressed up to the nines explained to us that she just left a romantic dinner and got prepared to do her stuff.

Bec was given the spinal injuection( apparently the spinal injection isnt as severe as an epidural and not as risky either, anyway it did the job) to numb the pain from T12 down.

It was now time for Bec and Dr Angus to work together by pushing(Bec) and pulling with forceps(Dr Angus) during each contraction. Within 5 minutes a beautiful little baby girl was born, after she had a good loud cry and Mike cut the cord before she was placed on her mums chest and fussed over by all in the birthing suite.

Mike went out all emotional and exhausted from no sleep for 38 hours and aiding the 22 hours of contractions and labour and told those waiting the great news. After Lily copped a bath, weighing/measuring and her first suck of the breast she was then fussed over by Granny Taylor, Granny and Grandpa Davis and Uncle Geoff and Aunty Viv.

Bec was stuck on the bed having to wait for the effects of the spinal injection to wear off. By 5am she was right to get off the bed and have a shower and get moved to her room.

Oh what a long time for her labour but it was certainly worth it.
